Stuffed Turkey Burgers

Stuffed Turkey Burgers

Sometimes turkey burgers can get a little bland in my opinion, so I like to add different spices and stuff them to change things up.  This is now one of my favorites!  Turkey Burgers stuffed with avocado, peppers and mushrooms.  The flavor is amazing!  You have to give this a try.  It is perfect for a July 4th meal for the family.

1 pound of ground turkey

sea salt

freshly ground black pepper

1 small avocado, diced

1 yellow pepper, diced

3 oz mushrooms, diced

olive oil

Directions:  Place your diced pepper and mushrooms in a skillet and saute in olive oil over med-high heat until browned.  Place veggies in a small bowl off to the side to let cool.  Form your burgers by dividing your 1 pound of ground turkey into 4 equal parts.  Form 4 semi-thin patties and season each with freshly ground black pepper and sea salt.  Add your avocado (1/2 to two of the formed patties, then add your veggie mixture on top of the avocado.  Take the other 2 patties and place on top.  Seal the edges tightly and make sure there are no gaps or openings.  Place a little olive oil in a large skillet and cook each burger until browned on both sides.  Make sure to only flip the burger one time, to help it stay together.  Slice and enjoy!  I paired it with roasted broccoli, but next time I am definitely doing sweet potato fries 🙂
